Join us for this meet the buyer event, where selected brands will have the opportunity to explore the Iberian market and meet some of the leading food and drink distributors and grocery buyers in Spain & Portugal.

Due to its booming tourism links with the UK and high number of British expatriate residents, the Iberian market has long been an attractive market for UK food and drink manufacturers. With tourism expected to reach 80% of pre-COVID-19 numbers (18 million British tourists visited Spain in 2019) there is demand for British products in Spanish and Portuguese supermarkets.
The preferred route to market across the Iberian market is via a distributor. Identifying a distributor and approaching buyers that are relevant to your product, as well as understanding bureaucratic challenges and regulatory requirements are key to achieving success.
We have teamed up with Rees Exports Consulting and Export Unlocked to provide an in-person overview of the Iberian market, including key considerations/guidance for UK exporters, as well as offering the opportunity for a 1-1 meeting with some of the leading distributors, supermarkets, and specialist chains in Spain and Portugal, including Herbolario Navarro, Girabebe, Frico dan, and Auchan.
This event is open to food and drink manufacturers of all categories, however we include buyer information and their specific product categories of interest below.
Herbolario Navarro is a specialist organic food chain with more than 40 stores across Spain. They are particularly interested in organic certified products in the following categories:
• Dairy – cheese, yoghurt, milk.
• Juice boxes.
• Cereals.
Girabebe SL is an importer of alcohol products and supplies into many of the major supermarket chains across Spain. They are particularly interested in the following products:
• Wine.
• Beer.
• Cider.
• Artisanal spirits – gin, whisky.
• Soft drinks.
Frico dan is a multi-category distributor and supplies into many of the major supermarket chains across Spain. They are interested in the following products across all three temperatures - ambient, chilled, and frozen:
• Frozen foods – pizza, sausages, ready meals, pies.
• Confectionery – sweets/biscuits.
• Jams and preserve.
• Alcohol – cider
• Tea and coffee.
• Crisps.
Auchan is the third-largest grocery retail chain in Portugal, with more than 60 stores across the country. They’re interested in the following products across all three temperatures - ambient, chilled, frozen:
• Free-from – gluten-free, plant-based (egg replacement), low FODMAP promise.
• Confectionery – seasonal chocolate gifts.
• Sweets.
• Jams.

• All commercial negotiations are to be discussed and agreed between the supplier and buyer.
