Join Santander, LIDE UK, Vera Rosas and the Department for International Trade (DIT) at this webinar to learn more about the Brazilian Healthcare market and opportunities for your business in the Medtech/Medical Devices sector.

Why Brazil?

Brazil has the largest healthcare market in Latin America, valued at £181 billion in 2019, and forecasted to be worth £212 billion by 2023. With a rapidly growing middle-class demanding access to better quality healthcare and a public health system that is not able to meet this quality, Brazil’s private healthcare industry is booming and demand in the sector has never been higher. Its private healthcare market is the world’s second largest by population size, and much of the public health system relies on private providers.

In 2019, the Brazilian medical devices market was worth £5.4 billion. In 2018, of all the products and equipment consumed in the country, 52% (£2 billion approx.) were imported. The Brazilian sector is heavily dependent on imports considering local industry is focused on manufacturing of single use products.

The medical devices sector is forecasted to reach a value of £5.8 billion by 2023. Companies could consider partnerships with local industries for the assembling or manufacturing of medical products in Brazil, as it can help to reduce duties and allow them to use Brazil as a gateway to other Mercosur countries.

The private sector accounts for over 60% of hospital beds, and the high tech market is largely reliant on imports.
