How to capitalise on Southeast Asia’s growth story

Registration is now closed

Join us for an exhilarating webinar as we deep dive into Southeast Asia — a region with more than 600 million people that becomes increasingly important for manufacturing and expansion activities, attracting both multinationals and SMEs.

  • Date: 19 September 2023
  • Time: 10:00 to 11:00 (BST)

The GDP of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is set to exceed $4 trillion by 2025 with exports forecast to make up 70% of GDP. This would make ASEAN one of the fastest growing trade blocs in the world. It’s home to more than 600 million people, which is a larger population than the European Union or North America. The OECD forecasts that ASEAN’s average real GDP growth will be 4.6% in 2023 and 4.8% in 2024.

ASEAN officials have signed numerous free trade agreements, which have helped to boost trade by lowering tariffs and streamlining regulation. Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Brunei are signatories of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), which the UK has declared an interest in joining.

China still remains a global manufacturing powerhouse but companies are now looking at ASEAN to diversify their supply chains and pursue a ‘China plus one’ strategy. This has opened up opportunities in Vietnam (electronics), Malaysia (semiconductors), Thailand (automotive), and Indonesia (battery production).

Join us for this webinar where we will look to address:

  • How to capitalise on Southeast Asia’s growth – review of markets and free trade agreements (CPTPP, RCEP, and ASEAN).
  • Expanding into Southeast Asia – overview of major industries and real life case studies.
  • The increased importance of Southeast Asia in manufacturing – market potential, trends, and an outline of various subsectors.
  • Transportation lead time and costs – bringing out impact on near-sourcing activities in a post-COVID world.
