Poland: your new automotive supply chain destination

Join us for this event where we’ll be introducing Poland’s fast-growing and dynamic automotive sector and supply chain opportunities alongside speakers from PZPM and three key Polish automotive clusters.

  • Date: 23 March 2023
  • Time: 11:00 to 12:00 (GMT)

As a manufacturer of cars, buses, and commercial vehicles and home to supporting supply chain partners, Poland offers a real alternative to companies considering expansion and supply chain diversification. There are also opportunities to supply into the local market and export out of Poland as UK parts and technologies are in demand for Poland’s ambitious automotive sector. Join us for this webinar to learn about the challenges, opportunities, electromobility, and tax exemptions, as well as local automotive producers and investments.

We will be joined by our experts from PZPM and three of Poland’s key automotive clusters:

PZPM

PZPM is the largest Automotive industry employers’ organisation in Poland for manufacturers of vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds, motorized four-wheelers, as well as trailers and semi-trailers, parts, and components for original assembly. PZPM supports activities for the development and promotion of the Automotive sector and is therefore involved in the work of governmental and parliamentary committees, providing consultation on draft acts concerning the industry.

  • Speaker: Jakub Farys, President of PZPM since 2002.

Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone (WSEZ) ‘INVEST-PARK’

The Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone (WSEZ) ‘INVEST-PARK’ was established in 1997 and covers 174 communes located in three voivodeships of south-western Poland (Dolnośląskie, Opolskie, and Wielkopolskie). Investments in WSEZ from Japan and global giants such as Toyota, Mercedes, VW, and Umicore have not only encouraged the development of the Automotive and Electromobility industries in south-western Poland, including related areas such as metalworking, chemicals, and logistics, but have also boosted Poland to be the second-largest centre for modern hybrid vehicle production outside Asia. The WSEZ is especially relevant for entrepreneurs, given the quality and comprehensiveness of the service, and those looking for European investment.

Speaker: Mariusz Grześkowiak, Sales and Business Development Specialist at WSEZ ‘INVEST-PARK’.

Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSEZ)

The Katowice SEZ manages investment areas in the Silesia region and Opolskie Voivodships. KSEZ is the best Special Economic Zone in Poland and Europe and the third-best SEZ in the world, according to the FDI Business Financial Times. Silesia is the most industrialised and urbanised region in Poland, with well-developed road, rail, and air transport and a strong, extensive scientific and research base. Silesia is also known as the heart of the Automotive industry in Europe thanks to the two Stellantis group OEMs that operate there (Opel and FCE), making it especially good for automotive parts and components manufacturers who supply their products to vehicle manufacturers in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

The KSEZ has been instrumental in the development of the Silesia Automotive and Advanced Manufacturing (SA&AM) cluster for the last 12 years, such that it now belongs to the group of key national clusters and supports 200 entities primarily in the Automotive industry. This has made it an attractive investment location, particularly when it comes to electromobility.

Speaker: Łukasz Górecki, Director of SA&AM Cluster, KSEZ.

Industrial Development Agency (IDA) in Mielec

The IDA invests in modern, efficient infrastructure and manages a number of investment areas ensuring quality service and support for investors across a number of levels. It also promotes entrepreneurs and fosters inter-cluster cooperation through educational institutions and local government. As a member of the Aviation Valley Entrepreneurs Association and the Eastern Automotive Alliance, the IDA supports activities undertaken by these clusters to create a good climate for new investment, such as that recently seen from BorgWarner, BURY, and Kirchhoff Automotive, and promote the industry as a whole.

The Euro-Park Mielec Special Economic Zone (SEZ), where the IDA is based, was opened in 1995 – a year after the adoption of the Act on SEZs – in response to high levels of unemployment and the need to manage assets left over from WSK. Activities in this area are therefore aimed at developing Polish entrepreneurship and encouraging local investment.

  • Speaker: Dominika Blaszczak, Senior Specialist at IDA branch in Mielec.

In collaboration with SMMT, this event will be followed by an opportunity for a small delegation of UK automotive companies to attend the sixth International Automotive Business Meeting in Jaworzno, Poland in May, so make sure to keep an eye out for more information over the coming weeks.
